What makes a great vodka? Well if you ask 10 different people, you will more than likely receive 10 different answers.
When it comes to vodka, it is usually the gateway into the world of spirits for many people. It is easy to mix, light on flavour, easy on the palate yet sustainable enough to be drank neat or on the rocks. It is versatile just as Whisk(e)y is yet does not carry a harsh bite.

Pisco is a very good vodka alternative, yet not as spunky as Vodkas cousin.
Pisco can technically be classified as a Wine, Brandy or Cognac as its process is involved with all 3 of those spirits. Pisco is usually made in Peru. It is a wine, made from grapes, that is then distilled giving you Pisco. Pisco can only be made from 8 different types of grapes. Is also has to come out at a specific ABV as it can only be distilled once. Peruvian Pisco is considered better as it follows the tradition of making pisco while the Chileans suppositely do not.
Pisco is typically for mixed drinks as well as cooking.

Suntory Haku
This vodka is made using Japanese white rice and filtered through bamboo charcoal. It comes with a floral smell with a slight taste of orange cream and lemon and a peppery yet citrus finish.
Great for fruity drinks and strong martinis.
Hanger 1
This is a really smooth vodka that does not have the bite of some other really popular vodkas.
It is made using grapes and wheat, yet it has a taste of pears and honey suckle. It is also only made in small batches.
It goes great for making Lemon Drops, Cosmos, Moscow Mules, Bloody Mary's and more.
St. George All Purpose
This vodka has almost a silk like texture with tone's of fruit and toasted wheat.
This makes the perfect choice for any Vodka based cocktail.

When it comes to the saying, ''good ole' fashioned potato water!'' This is the vodka I think of and go to. Though, they do make a wheat version and a rye version, the potato vodka is my favorite.
Screwdrivers are one of my favorite vodka drinks, and this is the vodka I use. Potatoes and orange juice? Yes please!
